Privacy
This page summarizes how Talking Buttons treats data. It should match our app listings in Google Play and Chrome Web Store. If anything disagrees with the store, the store text applies.
The apps (Android and Chrome)
Local by design. Boards, images, and voice recordings are stored on your device (Android) or in your browser’s local storage (Chrome extension). We do not run a cloud service that stores your boards or recordings for you.
No account required. You do not sign in to use Talking Buttons.
What leaves your device is only what you choose — for example, when you export a file (.obz), attach it to email, or copy it to your own cloud storage.
Permissions
- Android: Microphone — only when you record a message for a button. Storage / photos — only when you pick images for buttons. See the system permission prompts and the app listings in Google Play and Chrome Web Store for details.
- Chrome extension: Side panel and tabs access as described in the Web Store. The browser prompts for microphone access when you initiate a voice recording.
This website
This site is static (HTML/CSS). The home page stores your language choice in the browser (localStorage, key tb_locale) so a later visit can open the same language version directly; it stays on your device and is not sent to us.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub (as hosting provider) may process technical data such as IP address and User-Agent when you load pages, as described in GitHub’s privacy statement.
